Keith Haring’s 54th birthday is celebrated by Google on 4th of May. Keith Haring: 1978–1982 is the first large-scale exhibition to explore the early career of one of the best-known American artists of the twentieth century. Tracing the development of Haring’s extraordinary visual vocabulary, the exhibition includes 155 works on paper, numerous experimental videos, and over 150 archival objects.
NPR is going to run their Keith Haring feature (an interview with the Brooklyn Museum’s project curator Tricia Laughlin Bloom) this weekend on one of the morning shows. Haring and Warhol famously collaborated on this project in which Haring’s delicate graffiti handwork compliments Warhol’s silkscreened newspaper “headlines.” The duo gave this pop + graffiti mash up to Madonna and Sean Penn for their 1985 Malibu wedding.
